As a parent you plan ahead for event, parties, and any outings with the kids. However, how many days in advance do you tell them about the event? I have learned in the 5 years of being a parent that I should tell my daughter 3 days before an event. You may ask why. My daughter is a CHATTER BOX! She will ask me every 5 minutes a question about the event that is two weeks away.

I give my daughter little hints by doing activities with her before I spill the beans. To get my daughter prepared for upcoming activities; we research where we are going, look for videos on the internet, we think of songs to pay in the car ride and if possible we create coloring sheets or color sheets that are found on the website.

Since we are going to Disney on Ice Mickey & Minnie's Magical Journey, I printed out the coloring sheet for my daughter. We have it in our schedule that we will color on Monday and check out You Tube videos of Disney on Ice Performances.

Chicago FREE Event: Mayor Daley's Kids and Kite Festival

(My Daughter last lear)

Each year in Chicago, I take my daughter to Mayor Daley Kids and Kites Festival.  This year it will be held on May 7 2011 at Montrose Harbor from 10-3

 Some of the event highlights that your kids will loves is: 

Free kits for children to design and create their own kite

 Kohl’s Story Bus

Giant Kite Flyer

Face Painting

and Arts & Crafts and so much more.

Food will be available on the grounds from Robinson’s No. 1 Ribs. (Chicken Sandwiches & Boneless Rib Sandwiches – Hotdogs – Hamburgers – Fries – Nachos – Funnel Cakes – Chips/Popcorn – Pop & Water)

While food may be available, I suggest you pack a lunch.  The prices for the food cost so much. 

FREE Admission to Botanical Gardens on May 6th

What are you doing on May 6th?  Well, to celebrate National Public Gardens Day May 6th 2011, you can sign up for FREE admission to a Public Garden near you! Fill out the form and choose the garden you’d like to visit from the drop down menu. You can print 1 coupon for every 2 people in your party.

Borders: Elmo Birthday Celebration

Saturday,  Feb. 26 at Borders will be having an Elmo celebration at 2PM with games, songs, giveaways. Check here to make sure your local store is participating — just look up your store and scroll down to see events.

The last time I took my daughter to one of Borders event, they gave the kids books, treats and snacks.  I think I might just attend this event after we attend the pre-school Open House.
